The idea of creating of the organization which was called up to contribute to achievement and strengthening of economic, social, cultural and other connections among the Urals compatriots came into being on the 4 th of April 1997 when the community organization “The Urals association of fellow-countrymen” was founded on the initiative of scientists and cultural workers, representatives of business circles and authority of the Sverdlovsk region.
The first members of the organization were G.V. Korobkov, G.M. Pisulina, V.V. Sagaidak, M.V. Safronov, A.V. Baranov, V.V. Misharin, B.S. Petrov, S.I. Polushkin, T.A. Sultanov, V.I.Sherpayev and N.E. Korobkova.
Gennady Viktorovich Korobkov is elected President of the organization.
Purposes of the activity of the organization:
- Establishment of contacts and wide calling of compatriots living outside of the Ural to economic, social, cultural, public, enlightening and other spheres of life and activity.
- Conducting of publicly significant arrangements with participation of the Urals compatriots in business, culture, science, education and sport on a regular basis.
- Rendering of financial, informational, moral and other support and welfare to the Urals compatriots in need.
- Informing people of life and activity of the Urals outstanding compatriots.
